Navigating the Web: RSS Feeds & Diigo
Take a look at this chapter by Will Richardson on the many uses for an RSS Reader.
Skim this article reviewing different kinds of RSS feeds.
Select one RSS feed to explore. For example, you could check out Digg (which I use to monitor your blog postings). Digg Reader has a useful feature called the "Browse Categories" feature under the +Add tab, which bears some investigating.
If you are interested, create a short post on your blog that includes a link to an RSS Reader.

Take a look at this article about using Diigo in the classroom.
Sign up for a Diigo account and explore. Then, I want you to sign up for either group: Diigo in Education or Classroom 2.0.

Wikis, Google Docs, and Collaboration
Wiki is a Hawaiian word that means "fast" or "quick." A Wiki is a website that allows collaboration. Students can log in and edit a project, leave comments for each other (or the team) and see the transformation of collaborative writing as it occurs.
Teachers can also use Wikis for online collaboration. RSS feeds (or other notifications) will let you know when someone has made some changes needing your attention.
Online collaborative writing can eliminate time and space. Whether using a Wiki, a Moo, or Google Docs, or another tool, all we need is a computer and the Internet and we can work together.

- Each person should research one way that teachers are currently using RSS feeds, Wikis, Diigo, or Google Apps in their classroom. You do not all need to choose the same application, but be specific- for example, if you want to teach 4th grade science, try to find ways that 4th grade science classrooms are using Wikis.
- Prepare a brief summary description. Include (if possible) a link to the specific website.
