Experiencing Web 2.0
The goal of this assignment is to give each of us experiences using Web2.0 There are many indexes of excellent web resources available. I've provided two for you to use, but you are welcome to search in other places as well.
Check out WebTools4u2use and adventure through the site. You may want to pay attention to the Web 2.0 tools listed under Finding the Right Tool.
Other Web 2.0 tools are available through your new Diigo in Education group. Search for your own age level and content area for targeted results
You might also look at http://www.21stcenturyschoolteacher.com/cool-websites.html. This is a personal blog with a listing of some of the more popular Web 2.0 applications available. There are tons of sites like this one online- a quick internet search may reveal sites specific to your desired age level or content area.
Pick out a Web 2.0 application. Try out the website. After your adventure through the website, write a brief review in your blog. Use selection rubric to guide your evaluation. Including your thoughts answers to the following questions:
1. Brief Description- what is the site? What is it supposed to do?
2. What standards (NETS-S or content) could using this site help to achieve?
3. Prerequisites- what do you need to know before using the site?
4. Strengths- good things that the site does (high interest for students, superior technical quality, bias free)
5. Limitations- perhaps the reading level is too high, maybe user guide is not very clear or organized
6. Best guess on age group/grade level the site is intended for.
Repeat the above process with two more websites. You might want to consider selecting a tag called Websites, or wikis.
Finally, check your Pecha Kucha sign up times and prepare to deliver your Pecha Kucha on the assigned date. The Tuesday afternoon section should look here. The Tuesday evening section should look here. The Friday section should look here. Don't forget to also take a look at these presentation tips.
